REGISTRATION FOR THE SECTION CONFERENCE IN KENNEWICK - Opens January 3

Registration opens January 3 for the largest conference for water professionals in the Pacific Northwest!

Join your industry peers in Kennewick, Washington May 3-5 and you will experience:

NEW THIS YEAR! -
  • Pre-Conference Photo Contest - upload your favorite picture of water to our conference smartphone app and be entered to win a free conference registration. Winner announced March 31!
  • Scavenger Hunt Open to Everyone - This year's scavenger hunt will take place on the smartphone app and be open to everyone to play! We are calling it PNWS Go! and those attendees with the highest score by Friday at lunch will win one of three fabulous vacations in our Section! This replaces the raffle tickets that you had to purchase in the past to win the trips.
Vendors - we have 100 booths this year. Premium booths are located in the hallway between the session rooms. There are a limited number of these. Check out the vendor floor plan on the website. Register early on January 3 to get the best location.

Hospitality Suites are Back! - Kennewick unfortunately does not offer many pubs within walking distance to our hotels. To avoid drinking and driving on Thursday night, we will have 3 hospitality suites at the convention center available.
  • You can pick your theme for your suite.
  • You can pick your menu
  • We will offer transportation back to the hotels so your clients are safe.
  • There are only 3 - REGISTER EARLY!

Scavenger Hunt Advertising Opportunities - This smartphone Scavenger Hunt runs throughout the conference.

  • Drive attendees to your booth! - Take part in the Scavenger Hunt and attendees will have to stop by your booth to receive a code and be entered in the drawing for three fabulous trips!
  • Get your company logo on the Scavenger Hunt Game!
  • Maximum visibility!

Registration is now open and you can reserve your hotel room anytime prior to January 11 and take advantage of the discounted rate of $122 a night before taxes.

The Subsection Advisory Council is working on a great training agenda which will be available in a few weeks.  Additionally, you can expect the Friday Trustee Meeting agenda to be available very soon.  All Committee Reports will be due on Friday, January 20.

UTILITY MEMBERSHIP CHANGES

Starting in 2017, AWWA will enhance membership benefits for Utility and Service Provider Members.  Specifically, AWWA will replace its current benefit system, Plus Points, with a package of benefits that maximizes the value of the former offering. This change affects Service Provider and Utility members with over 5,000 service connections.

Utilities with less than 5,000 service connections will experience the upgrade differently. A low dues rate along with an enhanced version of Let's Talk Safety 2017 will be provided. In addition, free training opportunities may exist for those servicing populations of 10,000 or less.

These changes are a direct result of feedback from member surveys and interviews, collaboration with Sections, and recommendations from volunteer groups.

To maximize your benefits or learn more about Utility and Service Provider membership opportunities, please contact AWWA at membership@awwa.org or 303.794.7711.

PNWS LEADERSHIP - What Does It Take?

You may have thought about it.

Some of your peers are even doing it.

You might be interested if you knew more about it.

I'm referring to being a leader in our Section.  Whether it be at the subsection level, the committee level or as a Section Trustee there are many levels of leadership in our Section.

Maybe you have been asked to volunteer or lead a project. Perhaps you are seeking career advancement, looking to give back or make a difference with an organization, team or specific effort. Maybe you are ready to take it to the next level. The Section can help build and develop the skills needed to become an effective leader and those leadership skills will translate easily between the Section and the work place.  If you are a proven leader at work, you will easily become a leader within the Section.  If you are looking to build your leadership skills, the Section is a great place to build those skills that will assist you in your future career goals.

Check out the new How To Be A Leader In PNWS page on our website for more information.
