May 2015 Newsletter A new semester is underway at Pacific Rim College, and we are thrilled to have recently completed renovations on important campus hubs: our main reception area and bookstore! We welcome new and returning students to PRC, and also the beautiful climate and vibrant community buzz that summer seems to bring to Victoria. It is no surprise that Victoria continues to receive international recognition as one of the most liveable and beautiful small cities in the world. With everything that Victoria has to offer - the beautiful west coast environment of Vancouver Island, our charming Market Square campus, and the company of so many people who are passionate about sustainable medicine and wellness - it is no wonder students come to PRC from all over the world. Keep reading to find out more about Pacific Rim College, and feel free to share this newsletter with your friends. Todd N. Howard President

Acupuncturists to help with Nepal Disaster
In the wake of the disastrous Nepal earthquake, two acupuncture organizations are mobilizing to provide help.
Nepali acupuncturists and health workers trained by Acupuncturists Without Borders during the past 5 years will soon be treating earthquake survivors in Kathmandu and rural health camps. AWB is mobilizing trauma relief support in collaboration with their Nepali acupuncturist partners. They have asked for volunteer practitioners and money to support the effort. Visit www.acuwithoutborders.org to see how you can help.
Pacific Rim College Global Outreach Partner Acupuncture Relief Project is always on the ground providing healthcare in Nepal. They are accepting donations to help augment the valuable support they already provide. Visit www.acupuncturereliefproject.org for more information.
Global Acupuncture Project seeks help
Another Pacific Rim College Global Outreach Partner, the Global Acupuncture Project, is hoping to raise enough money to support a part-time coordinator and a long-term resident trainer. Since 2003 GAP has been training local community healthcare providers, mostly in Uganda, in the practice of acupuncture so that they can provide treatments and support in their communities long after GAP trainers have left. To date they have trained approximately 350 practitioners and have provided direct care to thousands. To learn more about GAP and fund their initiative, visit www.gofundme.com/globalacupuncture.
