latin food & wine festival wins
golden brick award
ORLANDO, FL. -March 2, 2016- The Downtown Orlando Partnership announced the recipients of the Golden Brick Awards today. Among the recipients was the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO) for the Latin Food & Wine Festival.
The Golden Brick Awards recognizes development and community projects that have a progressive and positive impact on the Downtown Orlando area. These awards have been an annual tradition that spans for over two decades. The 2016 Golden Brick Awards recognized 30 projects in 2015 and awarded 13 Golden Bricks, among them, the 2015 Latin Food & Wine Festival (LFWF), for the category of Diversity.
The LFWF is an annual event that has been in existence for over 6 years- primarily in the Seminole county region- and marks the end of the Hispanic Heritage month. Through the collaborative efforts of the City of Orlando and the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, the HCCMO was able to bring this cultural event to the Seneff Arts Plaza in Downtown.
Throughout the festival, the Downtown Orlando region welcomed a multicultural audience close to 15,000 attendees. With the traffic generated by the LFWF, the area experienced a vibrant and diverse atmosphere, impacting and fostering economic development of the area. Throughout the day, the attendees utilized the local parking garages, the Lynx and SunRail to arrive and depart from the LFWF. Several of the attendees would remain in the Downtown area and visit local cafes, restaurants, bars, and shopping sites.
"We are honored and proud to receive this recognition for the combined efforts and collaboration of our partners. Bringing this festival to Downtown Orlando and seeing the overwhelming response by our local community demonstrates how important these events are to the growth of our city," expressed Diana Bolivar, President of the HCCMO.
