DR. TERRENCE MURPHY OF YORKTOWN ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR NY STATE SENATE

Yorktown Councilman Dr. Terrence Murphy seeking Republican nomination in the 40th District of the New York State Senate.

Dr. Terrence Murphy, a Hudson Valley native, is a Doctor of Chiropractic. He is the owner of the Yorktown Wellness Center and as part of a family venture owns Murphy's Restaurant. A Yorktown Councilman for the past 5 years, Dr. Murphy and his wife Caroline have three children McKayla, Jack and Kian.

Dr. Murphy says, "We need to create an environment where everyone has an opportunity to succeed. How can New Yorkers get ahead while paying the highest property taxes in the country? How can anybody succeed as long as New York is the least business-friendly state in America? As an entrepreneur I know what small business owners are up against every day and its not pretty. As Yorktown Councilman I cut taxes, created jobs, and improved essential services. I will bring that record to Albany and help take New York from worst to first."

In five years as Yorktown Councilman, Dr. Murphy was behind the first consecutive tax reductions for Yorktown  in nearly a generation. While cutting taxes, Terrence delivered more than $250 million in economic development to Yorktown. He shepherded the Navajo Fields Sports Complex, brought in Costco and spearheaded the total revitalization of the Jefferson Valley Mall. These projects and surrounding infrastructure improvements have created hundreds of jobs and are happening via a public-private partnership at ZERO ADDITIONAL COST to taxpayers. Dr. Murphy made elected officials more accountable by crafting more stringent disclosure procedures with the Yorktown ethics committee.

Dr. Terrence Murphy worked hand in hand with the NY Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opiate Abuse to combat the drug epidemic gripping Northern Westchester.

The Westchester Republican Party will hold it's nominating convention Monday, May 19th at the Westchester Manor in Hastings On Hudson.
