BROOKLYN, NY, September 2, 2012: Today, Council Member Jumaane D. Williams (D-Brooklyn) announced his endorsement of Rodneyse Bichotte (D-Brooklyn) for female district leader of the 42nd Assembly District, which includes the neighborhoods of Ditmas Park, East Flatbush, Flatbush and Midwood.
"It is my pleasure to stand with my friend Rodneyse Bichotte in her re-election effort to the dual role of state committeewoman and district leader," said Council Member Williams. "It has been two years since I first joined Rodneyse on her journey of leadership, and she has since honored her community with hard work and steadfast commitment to her constituents."
Council Member Williams previously endorsed Josue Pierre (D-Brooklyn) for male district leader of the 42nd Assembly District.
"Josue and Rodneyse will be an incredible district leader team for the residents of the 42nd Assembly District," said Council Member Williams. "They are outstanding advocates for our immigrant community and great partners for our homeowners and small business alike."
Bichotte is the first Haitian-American woman elected to any office in New York City.
Council Member Jumaane D. Williams represents the 45th Council District, which covers Flatbush, East Flatbush, Flatlands, and parts of Midwood and Canarsie. He is the chair of the Oversight and Investigations Committee and co-chair of the Task Force to Combat Gun Violence. He is also the Co-Vice Chair of the Black, Latino and Asian Caucus and a founding member of the Progressive Caucus. He was first elected to office in 2009.
