We heard you loud and clear! Based on participant feedback about the webinar on this topic in February, we have planned a second web discussion to address specific, real-world challenges with providing EI in child care centers. Join us for Part 2 of our discussion, when we will dig deeper and discuss several challenging scenarios with a panel of experienced service providers, including an occupational therapist, speech-language pathologist, and developmental services provider. The panel will share strategies they use to manage these challenges, and we will also invite the audience to share what's worked for them. Cynthia Core, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Speech-Language Pathology at the George Washington University. She has been a an Early Intervention service provider in Arlington County for the past 2 years, and previously worked providing speech services in child care centers for several years in Palm Beach County, Florida.
 Dana Childress, Ph.D.
is an Early Intervention Professional Development Consultant with the Partnership for People with Disabilities at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has worked in the field of early intervention for
over
20 years as an early childhood special educator, service coordinator, supervisor, trainer, and writer. She currently works as part of Virginia's early intervention professional development team developing resources and conducting web-based and in-person training. She manages content for the
Virginia Early Intervention Professional Development Center
and writes the
Early Intervention Strategies for Success blog
. She is the co-author of the book,
Family-Centered Practices in Early Intervention: Supporting Infants and Toddlers in Natural Environments
. Her interests include family centered practices, supporting family implementation of intervention strategies,
adult learning and early intervention,
and finding ways to help bridge the research to practice gap through interactive professional development. She regularly presents workshops in VA and has presented at state, national, and international conferences.
Patricia "Patty" Eitemiller, M.Ed., QMRP has been an Infant Development Specialist with the ITC of Alexandria's Parent Infant Education program since August of 2003. As a part of the Parent Infant Education program, she participates on several of the initial assessment teams, has vast experience in developing IFSPs, sees children for developmental services, conducts initial intake interviews and screenings, and has provided service coordination. Patty also works collaboratively with the Child Find program at Alexandria Public Schools to offer a twice yearly Transition Information Session for parents and families of children who will be transitioning out of the PIE program. She also just restarted an inclusive community playgroup in cooperation with Alexandria's Therapeutic Recreation program and the Parent Resource Center with ACPS for both children enrolled in Early Intervention services and community children. Patty has post graduate certifications in working with children with hearing loss through Gallaudet University and UNC at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the Virginia Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Advisory committee and a member of the Integrated Training Collaborative. Patty currently serves as the president-elect of the VA Subdivision of the Division for Early Childhood (DEC) of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). She has presented on collaboration with child care providers at both state and national conferences.
 Andi Englert, OTR/L is an occupational therapist who has been practicing for 23 years in a variety of settings. She owns Chesterfield Occupational Therapy and provides contracted early intervention services with the Infant & Toddler Connection of the Crater District in the Petersburg area of Virginia.
