Be a Part of the Good Neighbor Initiative
 in Downtown Chapel Hill!

GNI 2010 - 3The Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership participates in

the Good Neighbor Initiative at the beginning of every UNC fall semester along with the Chapel Hill Police Department, the Office of Student Affairs, UNC Local Relations Office, the student body government, and Empowerment Inc.

The goal is to encourage students, living in neighborhoods that surround the downtown, to meet their neighbors and to work together to make neighborhoods a place of pride and safety. Students and year-round residents are given information concerning area services, garbage collection and recycling, local ordinances, alcohol laws and safety information during a neighborhood walk-around.

This year, on September 13, from 5PM to 9PM, we will hold a neighborhood block party with up to 500 downtown residents at the Hargraves Community Center on N. Roberson Street. The event involves a short neighborhood walk followed by a large community celebration with food, music, and games - free and open to all downtown residents.
