September 21, 2017
Edmonton Elections is hosting a series of all-candidate forums from September 25 to October 11, 2017. These events include 12 ward councillor forums, two mayoral forums and one mayoral candidate introduction session. Open to all citizens, the forums give voters the opportunity to hear from and ask questions of the mayoral and city councillor candidates.
With 13 mayoral candidates running for election, the lunch-hour forum at the Shaw Conference Centre on September 26 has shifted to an
Introduction to the Mayoral Candidates
session. The event is dedicated to candidates presenting their platforms without a question period from the audience or social media.
The mayoral forums on October 3 and 11 have been extended from two to three hours (6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.) to allow for a greater number of questions from the public.
Forum locations and schedules are available on the
Edmonton Elections website
. Real-time captioning and American Sign Language interpretation is available at all forums. Those unable to attend can watch the forums on a live, close-captioned webcast at

. Forum recordings will be posted to the Edmonton Elections website following each event.
Questions from Twitter, using event hashtags listed on the Edmonton Elections website, will also be accepted at the forums. Third party moderators will facilitate as many questions as possible from both the audience and social media during the events. Due to time limitations, it is possible that not all questions will be answered. Contact information is available on the
Open Data Portal
for those looking to follow up with candidates.
