Edmonton Elections ensures all voters can cast their vote
August 1, 2017

Edmonton residents unable to vote in person during the 2017 election can now request a Special (Mail-in) Ballot.

Special Ballots are available for those who cannot get to a voting station because of:

  • physical incapacity,

  • being out of town,

  • or being an election worker, candidate, official agent or scrutineer located at a voting station other than the one for the designated place of residence.

Apply for a Special Ballot online, or submit your application via phone, mail, fax or in person.

Special Ballot packages are printed after Nomination Day and will be available starting Friday, September 22, 2017.

Citizens must provide a photocopy of their identification when returning the ballot package.

In order to be counted, completed Special Ballot packages must be returned to the Elections and Census Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day. Special Ballots are not accepted at Advance Vote or Election Day voting stations.
