Extreme weather response extended
December 7, 2022

Based on updated weather forecasts, the current extreme weather activation will be extended to December 19, 2022 at 8 a.m. If weather conditions remain extremely cold beyond this timeframe, the response may be extended again.

While the weather forecast anticipates slightly warmer temperatures in the next few days, temperatures are expected to drop again to extreme levels next week (-20 degrees celsius with windchill).

The threshold for activating the City’s extreme weather response is a temperature of -20 degrees celsius with wind chill for at least three consecutive nights and shelter utilization rates over 90 per cent.

The current extreme weather response took effect on November 29, 2022.
