Let's Keep Each Other Safe on Transit It’s the Edmonton way
August 1, 2017
Edmontonians take pride in looking out for one another and understand that by working together, we can maintain a safe and welcoming transit environment. The Let’s Keep Each Other Safe campaign encourages riders to report unusual, suspicious or unsafe activities that could impact themselves or others.
To report a situation:
Talk to a uniformed transit employee
Use a blue emergency phone in a transit centre
Press the yellow passenger alarms on LRT cars
Call 911 or Transit Watch at 780-442-4900.
Let’s Keep Each Other Safe runs August 1 to September 30 and reminds riders to support one another, especially vulnerable groups, and to help spread the word. Everyone knows someone who takes transit, whether it’s going to work or heading to one of Edmonton’s many summer festivals.
The campaign message was developed based on feedback from transit customers and advocacy groups. It builds on existing safety and security programs already in place. This includes Stop Request that allows riders to get off at a location other than a bus stop along the route. The program is in effect daily after 6 p.m.
