Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists are invited to participate in an
online survey
about Edmontonians’ attitudes and behaviours regarding traffic safety. The survey complements information collected through previous engagement efforts.
In 2014, the City launched the Edmonton and Area Traffic Safety Culture Survey. The survey created baselines and laid the framework to assess changing attitudes, perceptions and behaviours among road users. The City repeated
the survey in 2016
, revealing a gap between how we think we should behave on the road and how we actually do.
“I’m looking forward to the 2018 results to see if traffic safety culture has shifted,” said Laura Thue, Senior Research Coordinator with the Traffic Safety section. “Information from these surveys will help shape traffic safety initiatives as we move towards Vision Zero Edmonton’s goal of zero traffic fatalities and serious injuries.”
The survey includes questions around speed, distraction, drugs and driving, and pedestrian safety. Once the data is collected and reviewed, a report on the findings of the 2018 survey’s various parts will be shared with the public.
The Traffic Safety Culture Survey is being conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. The online survey closes on August 21.
