PSI Awarded Safety Intervention Grant
The monetary impact of just three waterblast injuries can quickly exceed a $42,000 price range for any industrial cleaning contractor, not including lost time and restricted duty days for an injured employee.
To further enhance worker safety, PSI applied for, and has been approved for a BWC Safety Intervention Grant to purchase automated lancing equipment that will remove the lance line from the workers hands while under pressure.   The automated lance is expected to set new safety standards and provide operator comfort and protection.

In preparation of the new equipment arrival, our Safety Department has revised our Waterblast Program to address the new equipment purchases and  to implement new safety procedures and Waterblast permit program.

PSI is consistently implementing corrective actions to prevent waterblast injuries.

PSI Expands Business Development Team

Exciting changes are happening here at PSI as we prepare to gear up for the new year.  The growth of our company has shown a need for an additional Business Development Representative.  The PSI Industrial Solutions team is pleased to announced our newest team member, Mike McConnell, Business Development Representative.  Mike brings many years of Maintenance Supervisory experience. In addition, he has 25 years of environmental experience managing hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal.

Mike will be responsible for acquiring new sales acccounts and growing our business relationships within existing customer sites.

Mike's strong industrial and manufacturing presence will be a great asset to PSI in further strengthening our organization.

80 Year Old UST Excavated

PSI was subcontracted to vacuum the contents of a UST (Underground Storage Tank) during a construction project. The 900 gallon underground tank was discovered by an excavating company contracted for restoration work within the city limits of a small rural county.

Not knowing if the tank was used for fuel or waste oil storage 80 years ago, all facets of safety and environmental issues had to be addressed, including grounding all mobile vacuuming equipment and purging the tank. Once excavated and brought to the surface, PSI vacuumed and rinsed the tank, and all effluent was safely transferred to steel drums and labeled for waste characterization to be transferred off-site.

Manufacturing Among High School Students is the New Cool

New technologies such as 3D printing, robotics and advanced analytics, underscore the reality that a career in manufacturing does not entail working in a dirty, dangerous place.

The 2015 ManpowerGroup annual Talent Shortage  Survey  reveals that 32% or 1 in 3 of U.S. employers report difficulties filling job vacancies due to talent shortages, down 8% from 40% in 2014. This 10th survey shows that "skilled trades remain the hardest to fill for six consecutive years." Among U.S. employers, 48% acknowledge that talent shortages have a medium to high impact on their business, but few are putting talent strategies in place to address the problem... despite the negative impact on their business."
