Legislative Briefing

Mark McCaskill, Department of Commerce, briefed the board on bills related to growth management. Topics addressed by current legislative proposals include affordable housing, buildable lands, homelessness, the Growth Management Act, climate change, and more.

Regional Centers Framework Project

PSRC is working with members and other partners to develop ways to support and recognize the region's diverse centers. The Centers Stakeholder Working Group, composed of 21 members representing jurisdictions throughout the region, has developed options for board consideration. Following outreach over the next few months, the growth board will have an extended work session on the regional centers project. Discussion and action by the Executive Board is scheduled for the summer.

Taking Stock 2016

PSRC staff reported on key findings from the Taking Stock project. This effort is assessing how the region is doing in implementing VISION 2040 following recent updates to local comprehensive plans. A final report is due out later this spring.

Biennial Budget and Work Program

The growth board heard a presentation on the draft 2018-2019 biennial budget and work program for PSRC. It is a steady state budget that supports the agency's regional planning mission and continued service to members. The final budget is scheduled for approval by the Executive Board in March, followed by adoption by the General Assembly in May.
