WCB is running a campaign to increase Albertans’ understanding of the right to report workplace injuries. As a physiotherapist, you play a major role in the health and well-being of workers who are injured on the job. By law, you are required to report workplace injuries to WCB, even if your patient doesn’t think the injury is significant enough to report, or is hesitant about reporting. Reporting all workplace injuries to WCB helps ensure workers receive the benefits and services they are entitled to. If you or your patient has questions, WCB is always available to help. Visit www.wcb.ab.ca or call 1-866-922-9221.

SafetyNET is an interdisciplinary research team supporting patient safety culture among regulated health care professions. This team has developed a national adverse event reporting system looking at the short-term effects of manipulations, including specific characteristics of patients who experience unfavorable events after treatment to improve manipulation’s effectiveness and safety. The SafetyNET team’s plan is to identify patients who are likely to experience an unfavorable event before therapy is provided. This is a research study with inter-profession collaboration aiming for one single goal: SMT patient safety. So far, SafetyNET has only reached 30% of its physiotherapist recruitment goal. To enrol in the study or get additional information, please contact Martha Funabashi, PT (study coordinator) via email: [email protected], or phone number 780 492 2047, or by filling this inquiry form.
