President's Report

When the calendar turns to June, the days get longer and warmer. For many it’s a time to spend outdoors and planning for the upcoming summer season, but for Physiotherapy Alberta, we’ve been looking back at 2016 as we prepare the Annual Report.

Competence Program Survey

A big thank-you to the 1,234 or 50.3% of members who completed the Competence Program Survey in March. Council will be reviewing your responses and comments when they meet later this month; after which the survey results will be shared with members.
Volunteer Opportunities
Physiotherapy Alberta is currently seeking a member for the Registration Committee. The Registration Committee reviews renewal and registration requirements and makes recommendations, reviews applications referred by the Registrar, and considers registration policy issues. Applicants must be able to participate in teleconference meetings during the work week.

The Ever Active Schools’ AMA Youth Run Club has created Girls Only Run Clubs in an effort to get more girls participating in sport. Only 70% of girls regularly participate in sports compared to 81% of boys. Ever Active Schools is creating a resource for coaches to help close this gap with sections dedicated to stretches, strength activities, and injuries unique to females. If you are interested in providing content, or if you have any questions, contact Krista at [email protected].

Each year Physiotherapy Alberta hosts a BBQ for students entering the Physical Therapy program at the University of Alberta. If you are interested in contributing an item for us to give away as a door prize, let us know! This is an opportunity for you to get your organization's name out to the new students.
