Center for Social Value Creation
Exciting upcoming opportunities and events

Are you interested in sharpening your skills, gaining consulting experience or having a positive impact on the world? Change the World Consulting (CTW) matches teams of undergraduate or graduate students with social enterprises and nonprofit organizations for semester projects. Over the semester students should expect to spend about 40 hours on their work. The program is led by the Center for Social Value Creation. To be considered students must submit an  online application by September 4. View the  program website to learn more.

Join the Center for Social Value Creation on September 5 for a discussion with Jay Jakub, Mars Incorporated Senior Director for External Research, and the recent co-author of "Completing Capitalism, Heal Business to Heal the World." Mr. Jakub will discuss how Mars Catalyst is developing a groundbreaking strategy known as the Economics of Mutuality, which aims to reshape the way Mars does business globally utilizing a holistic approach to sustainability and value creation. The luncheon will take place from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm in VMH 2517.  RSVP is required.

The Center for Social Value Creation (CSVC) is hosting a career workshop focused on opportunities in the social impact space designed exclusively for MBAs on September 28. The Impact Careers workshop will help students identify where they fit into the social impact space, understand how their existing skills and experiences transfer, and map out a potential pathway to reach their career goals. During the workshop, students will have the chance to share and receive feedback on their career plans through highly interactive exercises. The workshop will take place from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm in VMH 1511.  RSVP is required.

Smith Community Raises Funds for Chile
Contributions help families in three towns

The local farmers of the O'Higgins Region in Chile needed our help and the Smith community responded! Last summer, Chile faced the country's worst forest fire catastrophe ever recorded. The fires devastated more than 1.2 million acres of land, including houses, national parks, and farms.

As the Robert H. Smith School of Business community, we wanted to show solidarity following this emergency in Chile and began a fundraising campaign. The $850 we raised directly helped families affected by the fires. Recently, "ProSexta AG", the association with whom we partnered, delivered 1,000 bales of hay to feed the animals of ten families in the towns of Chepica, Marchigüe, and Pumanque.

All these rural families of the O'Higgins Region in Chile would like to thank you for your generous and selfless support to keep their businesses running.
