When I was a child, my great uncle George, Grandaddy's brother, had a real southern plantation in Mt Pleasant South Carolina. He had a passle of kids in various ages from grown to high school in ages, some with kids my age.I'll never forget that long lane to his house with gorgeous trees draped in moss. We kids were allowed to race up and down that lane. I was never fast but I had long distance stamina, so others would sprint ahead and then flag toward the end while I trotted along. Sometimes I won the race that way. It seems that lesson taught me a thing or two about longevity in the career sense. Artists have up and down times over a long career, but the ones who hang on are those who are willing to stay in the race. I'm glad I'm still running that race.
