The Ormond Beach Loop is a favorite place for nature lovers in Florida. It is accessed on Beach Street just off SR 40, just before the Intercoastal bridge. You will turn north on Beach and continue for quite a while through a neighborhood, then through a forested area. Suddenly you are out on the gorgeous marshes in brilliant sunlight. It winds through the wetlands and marshes, forest areas and then back onto the marshes. There are tall exotic palms along the road and the grasses are lovely. I'll be painting there next week for at least a day. It's not that far from New Smyrna where I'll be staying.

 Quote of the DAY-

Recipe of the Day

Kahlua Peppermint Mocha Brownies

1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. butter
3 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
3 lg. eggs
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. + 2 tbsp. (divided) Kahlua Peppermint Mocha
1/4 c. powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350 & grease a 9 inch square pan. Line pan with aluminum foil. In one bowl, sift flour with baking powder and salt. In a small sauce pan, melt butter with chocolate over low heat. In a third bowl (because I really want you to make a mess in the kitchen with this recipe), beat eggs with sugar until light & fluffy. Stir in chocolate mixture and 1/2 cup Kahlua Peppermint Mocha to the eggs & sugar. Add flour mixture & mix until smooth. Bake 30 minutes until top springs back when touched lightly in center and edges begin to pull away from pan. Be careful not to overbake (or in my case, underbake).

Remove from oven and cool in pan. When cool, brush top with 2 tbsp of Kahlua Peppermint Mocha. Let the Kahlua soak up & dust the top with a light layer of powdered sugar.

Why should you visit Linda Blondheim's Loft Studio?

I asked my visitors why they like to come to my loft studio. This is what they said:

Linda's studio is a real escape, a place to unwind and get away from my crazy life.

I love to come to your loft studio to see what you are working on.  You make everyone feel like an old friend. I always get a kick out of coming into Paddiwhack and seeing your neon sign beckoning.  You are down to earth and willing to share ideas and painting tips with other artists.  You were so creative to come up with such a great idea as an open studio in a gallery/store like Paddiwhack.

I enjoy viewing her original art. She always has great stories about the places she paints.

The loft is a convenient location with great parking next to Fresh Market in Gainesville.

It gives me an opportunity to watch an artist at work and to have a sense of what it must be like to be an artist. Linda is candid and honest.

The Loft is a comfortable place to sit and relax after shopping, with no sales pressure.

There is always a hot cup of coffee or tea or a snack available. It's a matter of being made to feel "right at home" and my sense is that the snacks are often homemade or otherwise, thoughtfully chosen. The whole atmosphere feels personal and warm.

An opportunity to be surrounded by beauty and experience many aspects of an artist's work - not just the more refined and finished pieces on the walls for sale but also the 'browse bin'...which I always gravitate to, not so much because of the lower prices, but because of the history in that bin and the variety of scenes.

I like the opportunity to visit with Linda, enjoy the ambience, and see paintings in person; a fun addition to my Paddiwhack visit.

Linda makes every visitor feel loved.

It's exciting to see the variety of Linda's paintings.

Linda's paintings are even more beautiful than the photos at her web site or in her emails.

I'm more tempted to buy at her loft studio than from her web site.

Her paintings are magnificent.

Linda is the real deal and very people savvy.

It is inspiring and relaxing at the same time.

I feel welcomed.

I like coming to talk to you. I found that afternoon I spent with you and the other plein air painters delightful.

I love looking at all the beautiful painting of Florida landscapes.  Linda
does such a good job and it's exciting to see new paintings.
