Now and then I see a scene that I have to paint. I know it is special when I see it. I saw this on my recent recon with Mary Jane. It is the back side of the prairie around a bend on a dusty dirt road. It was just beautiful with the blue color of the distant tree masses and the many textures in the lush trees and plant materials. There were a million greens and the dark pine stood out in the chaos growing around it. Lots of fun!!

Tip of the Day - Buying Art

. Get online. The Internet is the most efficient way to take advantage of the vast array of different styles, prices, mediums and sizes of art available to collectors.

Avoid artists who don't list prices or have shopping cart systems. Avoid artists who do not have an established career. If they have no information or history, they may be gone before you know it.

Look for an independent artist. Commercial galleries have their place, but you get a far better understanding of the art you buy when you purchase directly from an artist. Your experience will be richer for having met and spoken with the artist about their work.

Find a unique, consistent style. A contemporary work of art that looks "just like" a Monet or Van Gogh, for example, might have aesthetic appeal, but will not prove to be "valuable" over time. Ultimately, you want to find an artist who can be identified by his or her unique style .

Study the artist's biography. Knowing some fundamental information about an artist can help you gauge their potential for growth and will often provide a deeper understanding of their work.
