I sure had a busy weekend. A couple of musicians played banjo while I painted out in front of Paddiwhack Gallery/Loft Studio on Saturday morning. I look forward to that adventure each week. My friend Linda Pottberg brings her banjo and practices her tunes while I paint. We laugh and joke through the process. I run into old and new friends who pass by.  Football season will be really fun with the crowds going to Flying Biscuit and Fresh Market before the games.

On Sunday I worked all day in completely reorganizing my painting studio near Lacrosse. A dear friend removed the old wall to wall carpet for me and now I have a concrete floor. It is perfect for a painter. i can spill all of the paint I want to and just a sweep and quick mop is all it needs. So much more efficient. I will need to get a good gel mat for the floor in front of my easel. There is nothing like a well organized studio. The project continues today.

Tip of the Day

My rule of thumb for organizing is that if I have not used it in a year I probably won't again. I give it away.

Today's Recipe

 Roasted Chicken

For years I have roasted whole chickens and they are very good. I love the dark meat and I decided to roast chicken pieces this week instead of a whole roaster. I used chicken thighs and drumsticks, both with skin removed. I did not brown them first. I put them in a cast iron pot with carrots, celery, grape tomatoes and onions, thyme, salt, cracked pepper for seasoning. Roasted them at 300 degrees for about 4 hours. The flavor was deep and rich like no other chicken I've tasted. Awesome!!
