I have some new very fun business cards at the studio. I was able to order about 10 different painting reproductions on them, so it's fun to pick the one you like the best. The back has my  blogs and websites. They are half the size of a regular biz card and a lot more fun. Stop by the loft and pick one up.

Starting a vegetable garden

The first and probably the most important step is deciding what crops you want to grow and where you will be growing them. A 1620 foot plot is a sufficient size for a family of three or four.

Since you are new to this type of gardening, however, you might be better off starting out with something smaller. Consider growing your garden in small beds or even containers. These alternatives work especially well if your space is quite limited. When you have a general idea about what you want, plan accordingly.

Draw it out on paper and list the vegetables you would like to incorporate into your garden. It's usually better to grow only the vegetables in which you enjoy and those that are easier to grow. Beets, carrots, lettuce, radishes, squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, and beans are all good choices for beginners.

Research these crops beforehand to make sure they are suitable for your particular area. Catalogs, gardening books, and plant guides are helpful resources for any information you will need.

Why should you visit Linda Blondheim's Loft Studio?

I asked my visitors why they like to come to my loft studio. This is what they said:

Linda's studio is a real escape, a place to unwind and get away from my crazy life.

I love to come to your loft studio to see what you are working on.  You make everyone feel like an old friend. I always get a kick out of coming into Paddiwhack and seeing your neon sign beckoning.  You are down to earth and willing to share ideas and painting tips with other artists.  You were so creative to come up with such a great idea as an open studio in a gallery/store like Paddiwhack.

I enjoy viewing her original art. She always has great stories about the places she paints.

The loft is a convenient location with great parking next to Fresh Market in Gainesville.

It gives me an opportunity to watch an artist at work and to have a sense of what it must be like to be an artist. Linda is candid and honest.

The Loft is a comfortable place to sit and relax after shopping, with no sales pressure.

There is always a hot cup of coffee or tea or a snack available. It's a matter of being made to feel "right at home" and my sense is that the snacks are often homemade or otherwise, thoughtfully chosen. The whole atmosphere feels personal and warm.

An opportunity to be surrounded by beauty and experience many aspects of an artist's work - not just the more refined and finished pieces on the walls for sale but also the 'browse bin'...which I always gravitate to, not so much because of the lower prices, but because of the history in that bin and the variety of scenes.

I like the opportunity to visit with Linda, enjoy the ambience, and see paintings in person; a fun addition to my Paddiwhack visit.

Linda makes every visitor feel loved.

It's exciting to see the variety of Linda's paintings.

Linda's paintings are even more beautiful than the photos at her web site or in her emails.

I'm more tempted to buy at her loft studio than from her web site.

Her paintings are magnificent.

Linda is the real deal and very people savvy.

It is inspiring and relaxing at the same time.

I feel welcomed.

I like coming to talk to you. I found that afternoon I spent with you and the other plein air painters delightful.

I love looking at all the beautiful painting of Florida landscapes.  Linda
does such a good job and it's exciting to see new paintings.
