It is with great sadness that we mention that the Former Palm Bay Mayor, Mel Broom, peacefully passed away on August 12, 2017. He was 89. Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Mel joined the Navy where he served for 20 years. A wake service will be held Friday, August 18th from 4-7 pm at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, August 19th at 10:30 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Babcock Street, Palm Bay A reception will be held following the funeral at the Knights of Columbus Hall on South Babcock St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Space Coast Early Intervention Center.
