Plus Three Additional Programs
Palm Beach Dramaworks is delighted to announce that Broadway luminaries Paul Gemignani, William Ivey Long, and Tommy Tune will be interviewed live, onstage as part of its popular series,  Dramalogue - Talking Theatre! This series of six programs, which explores all aspects of theatre in conversations with or about the industry's top professionals and master artists, will also feature presentations on Eugene O'Neill and Rodgers & Hammerstein, and a roundtable discussion with four directors. 
The third season of Dramalogue kicks off on December 8 with  Paul Gemignani: Musical Theatre's Master Maestro . The esteemed musical director, whose long association with Stephen Sondheim is among the highlights of his 40-plus years on Broadway, will be interviewed by Sheryl Flatow. Up next, on January 4, is  Tommy Tune: Broadway's One and Only . The beloved actor/singer/dancer/ director/choreographer will discuss his remarkable career with J. Barry Lewis, PBD resident director. On February 2, Mark Perlberg will present  The O'Neill Family: A Long Day's Journey . PBD's production of O'Neill's semi-autobiographical masterwork,  Long Day's Journey Into Night , opens on January 29, and Perlberg's program will provide further insight into the play and the difficult relationships within the O'Neill family.
 
The series continues on March 1 with William Ivey Long: Creating Character Through Costumes. The prolific, brilliantly imaginative costume designer will talk to Flatow about his work on a variety of memorable shows. On March 29, four directors very familiar to Florida audiences will take part in Theatre Roundtable: Directly Speaking. PBD Producing Artistic Director William Hayes and J. Barry Lewis will be joined by GableStage Producing Artistic Director Joseph Adler and Actors' Playhouse Artistic Director David Arisco to discuss the many facets of their work. Hayes and Lewis also serve as co-hosts. The series concludes on April 12 with Rodgers & Hammerstein: The Golden Age of Musical Theatre. Lewis returns to explore the groundbreaking collaboration of composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II. The program will include live music.
Mark Perlberg is the executive producer of Dramalogue, which is sponsored by Nancy and Jay Parker. Presentations may include videos clips and/or scene readings. Audiences are invited to participate in a Q&A at the conclusion of each event.
 
All programs are at 2pm and 7pm on Tuesdays, except for the Tommy Tune interview, which is on a Monday. A subscription to the entire series is $90. Individual tickets are $20.

Recipient of the 2001 Lifetime Achievement Tony Award, Paul Gemignani is recognized as the preeminent musical director on Broadway. Although  best known for his work with Stephen Sondheim, he has been musical director for shows by most of Broadway's great composers, including Cy Coleman, George Gershwin, and Cole Porter. Go inside the music with him as he discusses how he helps shape a show and bring a score to life.

One of the most celebrated artists in Broadway history, multi-talented Tommy Tune has been delighting, surprising, and mesmerizing audiences for 50 years as a performer, director, and choreographer. The recipient of 10 Tony Awards, including the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award, Tune will discuss his illustrious career. Please note, this program will not include a performance.

The O'Neill Family: A Long Day's Journey

Eugene O'Neill had a painful relationship with his tortured family and was himself a tormented soul, as is evident in the semi-autobiographical Long Day's Journey Into Night. Join Mark Perlberg as he shines a light on all the O'Neills and examines the family dynamic. He will also discuss another revelatory O'Neill play, the one-act Exorcism, a "lost" work written in 1919 and rediscovered in 2012.

Go behind the scenes with six-time Tony Award-winning costume designer William Ivey Long, who has helped define characters for more than 70 Broadway shows. Long will discuss the craft of costume design, and talk about his work on such iconic shows as Nine , Guys and Dolls, The Producers, Hairspray and Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, as well as some of his many upcoming projects.

Four veteran directors - Joseph Adler, David Arisco, William Hayes, and J. Barry Lewis - will supply the details and discuss their responsibilities in taking a play from page to stage.

Barry Lewis takes you on a journey through their shows, including Carousel, South Pacific, and The King and I, and reflects on their lasting impact.
