Days of Remembrance

The Burbank Human Relations Council has presented their inspiring program for the past 23 years to honor the Days of Remembrance (Yom Hashoah). This year, the event will be hosted on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 by Burbank Temple Emanu El, at 1302 N Glenoaks Blvd., from 7:30-9:30 p.m

The keynote speaker this year will be Auschwitz survivor Erika Jacoby.  Her presentation will be called "I Hold the Sun in My Hands," which is also the title of her autobiography.  She also appeared in a documentary film "Swimming in Auschwitz," which depicts six women telling their stories of survival in that notorious death camp.

ALC will join them as a partner in this moving and inspiring program, which will also feature candle lighters, music, and special readings as in past years. Our own Leslee Harman and Carla Szuch will represent ALC as readers during the program!

It is the hope of the Burbank Human Relations Council to give the Burbank community a representation of all Burbank's worship centers in remembering the Holocaust, to never forget that history is to be remembered in order to prevent any future repeat of the horrors of the past.
