2) You have made your voices heard on government Common Core encroachment in private schools - Although more aspirational than  specific, there is language in the newly resurrected voucher bill (SB 1512) to protect private school standards and curriculum.  The Senate is now not demanding that voucher students take the Common Core tests, but instead are paying the Learning Services Institute (LSI) at FSU $500,000 per year to audit and compare the testing outcomes.  While we agree that the test scores should be compared, it is highly unlikely to be an unbiased comparison, given that LSI develops the Common Core curriculum and professional development modules called C-PALMS for the whole state of Florida. See the analysis by Dr. Effrem for more details.  Although less onerous than requiring private schools to take the Common Core tests, we believe this bill is still dangerous for private school autonomy and should be scrapped.  We believe that the best way to achieve school choice is to  let parents and duly elected school boards determine standards, curriculum, and tests and then decide what educational path is best for their children.  Government money always has strings that will lead to control of private schools one way or another.
