Academic Success: How It May Affect Financial Aid
Anderson University supports academic success through many vehicles. The Kissinger Learning Center and Educational Support Services are two valuable resources for providing support to students as they navigate through the maze of college courses. Counseling Services is another source of support for students, as working to promote good mental and emotional health ultimately supports academic success. All three of these services are provided at no charge to students.
If your student is struggling in a class, encourage them to talk with their professor, get tutoring help, and/or join a study group. Because of recent changes to the policy of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), there's much riding on your student doing well academically ... including eligibility for financial aid. Midterm grades should be available to students online by the 26th or 27th of October. They then have until Nov. 4th to withdraw from any courses in which they are not doing well. A grade of "W" will show on the transcript for a withdrawal. For parents to be able to see this information online, their student would need to provide to them his or her login name and password. AU Homecoming 2011
Homecoming is a time to celebrate the community, tradition, and legacy of Anderson University. It's a time to meet up with good friends, reminisce about past college days, and celebrate the special place that is AU. It's also a time for students to meet alumni who have been here before them, and to realize they are a part of something bigger than themselves. They're now part of the very large AU family ... more than 25,000 strong!
We want to invite all parents to join the festivities, so for all the details check out the

Parent Resources
Whether you consider yourself a "hovering" parent or not, the message to parents in the following article about the importance of stepping aside as our children learn to become independent is a good one ... and one of which I need to remind myself often. I'm sure you'll be able to identify with some part of this article no matter if your student is a freshman or a senior. I really enjoyed the thread of comments posted after the article and loved reading the different perspectives of both parents and "children."
I'm a movie person ... meaning, I love movies. One of my favorite lines from the 80's movie Footloose is, "If we don't start trusting our children, how will they ever become trustworthy?" Blessings to all parents who love their children.
