Prepare the Child

This article is basically an op. ed. piece. And it's "parent-y." It's totally my opinion, and I'll take any heat and commentary on it as productive.
 
It's been my (and most transactional analysis psychologists') premise that the experiences of our youth, from about two years old through about six, form our Knower/Judger persona. It is thought that through that age period we make decisions about how the world works and how we fit in it. We create our concepts of right and wrong, persuasion, self-worth, and thousands of things that we'll compare ourselves against for the rest of our lives. We may even have a concept of the type of spouse we'll marry, and, if we grow up in certain environments, even how often we should beat him or her.  (Read more).....

Three foundations of successful teams.

It has dawned on me that when working with management teams of highly productive executives, the most progress made is with the individual.  After all, it's the individuals who develop these three conditions....or do not.

They may be a part of a team.  They may even lead that team.  They are first and foremost individuals.  People who came to this position with Knower/Judger ramifications that can both serve the mission well and cause it to stumble.  Serve the individual's life well, or cause it to stumble as well.

So it is clearly with the individual I work.  It is even more fun when I work with multiple interacting individuals, and I can watch interpersonal wellness enhance performance and productivity.

Most managers and executives I have had the pleasure of Coaching report benefits not only in their professional world, but in their personal and recreational worlds as well.  The tools are Universal.
