Positive Discipline for Resilient Children
Thursday, July 18
10:00 am - 12:00 noon

Resilient children know they can endure because they have developed a positive sense of themselves.  The essence of this self-esteem is feeling unconditionally loved, and capable in the world. Take home positive discipline ideas that will help to build your child's self-esteem, and his ability to withstand  the bumps and scrapes of life .

Parenting News You Can Use!
Greetings!

We were reminiscing about how hard it was sometimes, even when we were at home, to spend time playing with our children.  My sister-in-law had a great idea: She set the timer!  Even when she was busy making supper, she knew that there was an empty cup that needed some filling.  Rather than allow herself to be annoyed by the constant interruptions, she set the timer and played like crazy for 10 minutes.  The price (dinner 10 minutes later) was an inexpensive way to pay for a chance to help her little one feel loved, special, valuable, and content.  She felt better, too.  What a wonderful way to connect and refresh.  Try it!
Playing With Your Child

Great words of advice:  "I know, you think you hate playing with your child.  But what if I gave you permission to set a timer and forget about your To-Do list and just connect with your child for ten minutes?  What if I promised that if you do this on a regular basis, your child will become more cooperative, and you will feel more energized?  What if it helped you become a happier parent?"

Here are some simple reminders of how to play  Kick the Can,  Red light / Green light, and other favorites.  They are as much fun to play as they were when you were a kid.  Introduce them to your  children, and build some great memories.

Inspirational Quote of the Week
