Starting a Military Outreach through your Congregation
Chaplain Craig Muehler, CAPT, CHC, USN (Ret) Director, Ministry to the Armed Forces (LCMS) will be leading a discussion “Starting a Military Outreach through your Congregation," at Faith Lutheran Church, 680 W Deerpath Road, Lake Forest, Saturday, October 21, at 6 p.m.
At 5 p.m., Chaplain Muehler will preach “Are you Ready for War?” Chaplain Muehler will also be presenting the St. Martin of Tours Award to Rev. James D. Buckman (Lt Col), who is currently serving as an Air Force Chaplain with the IL Air Guard. All are welcome for worship and fellowship with us or just attend the discussion and fellowship. Reformation Celebrations

Reformation 500 Celebration Day
Families, congregations and schools will join in a day-long festival on the Concordia University Chicago campus, Saturday, October 28, commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
Lutherans throughout the region are encouraged to attend the event, jointly sponsored by Concordia University Chicago and the LCMS Northern Illinois District. A renaissance-faire atmosphere will provide educational, dramatic and spiritual activities for children of all ages. Adult seminars will engage important topics related to Lutheran history, education, missions and family life. The day concludes with an afternoon festival Reformation worship service featuring a region-wide children’s choir.

"The Reformation at 500: An Interdenominational Conversation" will take place October 30, 7:30 p.m. at the CUC Campus - Chapel of Our Lord. Contemporary Christian leaders discuss denominational divergence and convergence at this historic mile marker and engage in a principled conversation about the historic and theological divisions emerging from the reformation controversies, as well as points of shared concern and common cause among Christian churches. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and meet the speakers afterwards.

While seating in this venue is no longer available, live streaming video will take place enabling you to watch this event from your home or church on Concordia University Chicago's free livestream.

Joint Reformation Service and Party

In celebration of Reformation 500, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Batavia, and St. Mark's Lutheran Church, St. Charles, are hosting a joint reformation service, Sunday, October 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the Arcada Theater, 105 E Main Street, St. Charles.

A BLOCKTOBER 2017 party will follow from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Riverside and Main Streets. The family event includes free bounce houses, children’s games and prizes, a magician, and will be hosting a trunk or treat for children to participate in. Artist Series
St. John's Artist Series continues with a hymn festival by noted composer and organist Michael Burkhardt, featuring an organ recital by Dr. Steven Wente, music department chair at Concordia University Chicago. Youth Ministry Leader
Lord of Glory Lutheran Church, 607 W. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, is seeking an individual to lead their Youth Ministry Program for 6 to 12 grade students. This is a part-time (15-20 hours per week) position. Working with Pastor and Youth Ministry Team, this person will set the vision for youth ministry, oversee the structure, including learning/study experiences during the week, serving opportunities, and fellowship experiences, recruit and train small group leaders, encourage interaction between the students, leaders, families, and the entire church body, and provide timely communication to students, parents, and the church. Please contact Cindy at [email protected] for more information or to apply.
