NID Participates in #GivingTuesday 2017
Next time you see a pregnant woman or one with a tiny baby, think about the one in three moms who will have to choose between food or diapers. Breakfast with Baby is trying to meet that need.
The LCMS Northern Illinois District has once again joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving, partnering with St. Paul, Lutheran Church, Mount Prospect, and their ministry, Breakfast with Baby. As in the past, the LCMS Northern Illinois District will match all donated funds dollar for dollar, up to $2,000.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, occurring this year on November 28.

Save the Date - Planning Meeting for Gathering
The Parish Professionals group will be holding a meeting, "How to Plan For a Gathering", February 15, 2018. This meeting will be helpful to anyone who is involved with coordinating the 2019 Youth Gathering in their congregation. For questions or to sign up for updates, email Dari Hartman .
Gathering CLB Application Opening
The Community Life Building (CLB) application opens soon. Community Life Builders (CLBs) are a key group of volunteers who are trained and resourced to serve Gathering participants and help the event run smoothly. Known as the “Yellow Shirts” because of the yellow shirts they wear, CLBs work in the Gathering hotels, convention center, and stadium during the event.

If you are interested in being one of these servant leaders, or know someone who would make a great CLB, please consider completing the application opening on October 25. 

The application will be available at www.lcmsgathering.com/clb and remain open until February 28, 2018.
March For Life Chicago 2018

Join area Lutherans and thousands of pro-life advocates at the March for Life Chicago on January 14, 2018, to witness to the sanctity of human life and hear inspirational speakers affirming the value of life and underscoring the importance of continuing to speak out for life.
Meet on Federal Plaza, 50 W. Adams Street, Chicago, at 1:55 p.m. under the LOVE AFFIRMS LIFE banner, or Ride a bus leaving from Trinity Lutheran Church, 1001 Kimberly Way, Lisle, leaving at 1 p.m. Suggested bus ride donation is $10 (to cover cost for the round trip bus ride). Walcamp High School Winter Retreat
Walcamp has organized a Winter Retreat, January 19-21, 2018 at the Wisconsin Dells, for a weekend of skiing, swimming, fellowship and fun. Lodging will be at Sunset Bay Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Skiing and tubing this year will be at Cascade Mountain.
There will be a guest speaker for the weekend. This get-away weekend is for high school groups. Registration is closed on December 15, 2017. Cost varies by group size, hotel rooms needed and events you will be participating in. Print flyer Print registration packet

Lithuanian Cultural Concert

A concert dedicated to the Reformation 500 anniversary and its influence for Lithuanian culture will be held Sunday, November 12, 3 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6850 W. 159th Street, Tinley Park. The concert is designed that people of Lithuanian heritage as well as mono-lingual Americans could participate not only by listening, but also joining in singing with musicians.
Tickets are $25 for adults, youth under 18 $15, and under 10 free. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or through Rev. Dr. Valdas Aušra, Zion Lithuanian Lutheran Church, 708 422-1433.
PADS Fundraiser

A spaghetti supper and dance will be held Friday, November 3, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bartlett Fire Barn, 218 S. Main Street, Bartlett. Presentation on the New Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty
Congregational leadership ares invited to attend a presentation by Rev. Dr. Gregory P. Seltz, first executive director of Synod’s Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty, Friday, December 1, 5:15 p.m. Meet and Greet, followed by dinner at St. Matthew Lutheran Church & School, 24500 N. Old McHenry Road, Hawthorn Woods.
