Live Solar Eclipse Event!

Monday, August 21st

  • The entire student body K-4 - grade 6 will participate in an Eclipse Party from 1:00-1:50 in the AAC building. An Oreo (moon) cookie will be served to all (or gluten free for those with gluten allergies.) If you do not wish for your child to be served these cookies, please contact our school nurse, Tania Choulijian at

  • If you do not want your child to participate in the viewing of the eclipse, please pick your child up before 1:00 or keep him/her at home for an excused absence. A note should be sent to the homeroom teachers informing the school of this arrangement.

  • All students in grades 1-6 should bring a brimmed hat (visor, baseball cap, etc.) with their name clearly marked to wear anytime they are outside between 1:15 and 4:00. This will include movement to the gym and carpool for grades 1 and 2 and anytime outside for our older students, grades 3-6, to provide an extra layer of protection. The students in K-4 - second grade will not participate in the actual eclipse viewing as advised by our consulting ophthalmologist.

  • We will provide ISO certified glasses for grades 3-6 to view the eclipse. In the case of inclement weather, all students will remain in the gym watching the NASA live-stream coverage.

Grades 1-3 carpool - 3:00 - 3:30 p.m.
Grades 4-6 carpool - 3:30 - 4:00 p.m.
All students in AfterCare and Parker's Gang will participate in the event.
K-4 and K-5 students will dismiss during their regular carpool.
Sign-up for after school enrichment classes is underway. This year,
parents must sign up using a simple registration form. Payment will be made on the first day of camp.

Mark your calendars for "Parents' Night!" We cannot wait to see all of you!  This fun, informative event will start promptly at 4:30 p.m. in your child's homeroom classroom. The teachers and administrators have great information to share with you about your child's "home away from home."

"Club Eagle AfterCare" will provide special child care for Park Maitland students who need a place to "hang out" (so that you can enjoy the "Parents' Night" events). Childcare is available for only $15 per child. Simply contact Club Eagle by email at  or by calling 407.647.3038, ext. #159. Children who attend AfterCare regularly can follow their usual after school protocol and can be picked up after the "Parent's Night" event.

Parent Chat with Lori Smith

Tuesday, September 12th
8:15 a.m

Lori W. Smith of Zimmerman, Kiser, & Sutcliffe, P.A., will be here to discuss how youth can use social media in a smart way. She will highlight successes of young teens who have used social media in school, entertainment, and youth related businesses. Ms. Smith will also highlight common social media mistakes.

In today's world of fast-paced and varied technological communication, children and adults are often surprised at the ramifications of hitting that "send" or "post" button without careful consideration. As a result of Ms. Smith's previous presentations, many adolescents seem to be rethinking their social media and communication choices.

We ask that at least one parent of our 5th and 6th grade students attend this timely and relevant chat. Mrs. Smith will also meet with grade 5 and 6 students following the parent session.

Our talented administrators celebrated "The Force" of Confidence at our Student Assembly, showing us the Power of "Yet." We look forward to another year of building CONFIDENCE through a growth mindset.
To avoid morning waits, please arrive earlier.
Students can be dropped off as early as 7:00 am.

Message from the Security Manager:

Morning Arrival:

During the first week of school morning arrival has already shown improvement. I was amazed that we were able to have 340 cars drop off students in 45 minutes. Several parents have told me that they are saving time by arriving 5 to 10 minutes earlier during morning drop-off. The line starts to back up on 17-92 at approximately 7:25. From Dominoes it has been taking between 5 to 7 minutes to reach a drop-off station. Please refrain from parking at the Enzian and other businesses around the campus during carpool. We want to ensure the safety of our students by safely dropping them off at the designated drop-off stations.

Remember we must all work together to ensure the safety of our students, parents, faculty, and staff at Park Maitland School.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me at: or call (407) 647-3038 x248.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation,

Jesse Johnson
