NEWSFLASH! Giving is Good for Your Health
Giving makes us feel better. While we could cite hundreds of studies that prove this, the best confirmation comes from the warmth felt in the heart when reaching out to help others.  There are many ways to give to the Parkinson Association:

Shopping on Amazon for the holidays? Use Amazon Smile and name the Parkinson Association of the Rockies as your charity. A small percentage of your purchase will be donated to us.

Own long-term appreciated stock? This is a great way to make a donation and receive an added tax benefit. Donate the stock to the Association and take a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the securities; plus you'll eliminate having to pay capital gains tax. Be sure to check with your financial advisor to ensure your donation meets IRS regulations.

Have an old car to donate? Utilize V-Dac to coordinate the donation of your unwanted car to the Parkinson Association. The value of your old car will enhance the lives of hundreds of individuals living with Parkinson's.

Donating cash? Send a check or click here and donate today. Every dollar helps to ensure the Parkinson Association of the Rockies can expand critical programs and services to help those living with Parkinson's.

The Final Celebration of 2016
This past Saturday, December 10th, 160 participants joined us at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Littleton to compete for the best decorated gingerbread house in our final celebration for 2016: Party for Parkinson's - Party with a House.

This event was filled with cheer and was a great way to round-out a fantastic year. Thank you to everyone who joined us and those who made contributions to the event. We are especially thankful to all the volunteers who spent their time pre-building all the houses, setting-up for the event and ensuring it ran smoothly.  And, this event wouldn't have been possible without the support from our friends at HealthSouth for hosting us, feeding us and taking on the difficult task of judging the houses! We're also grateful for the donated professional services from our photographer, Jim Darling Photography and videographer through Carbon8

Special Thanks to those who Supported Party with a House

Colorado Gives... and Gave A Lot!
We are blown away by the amount of support we received on Tuesday, December 6th during Colorado Gives Day. Because of your contributions, we were able to raise over $22,700 in just 24 hours!

The Parkinson Association of the Rockies is not affiliated with any national Parkinson's organization and is dedicated to enhancing lives and connecting communities. Your contributions allow us to push boundaries and invest in programs and services which are a lifeline to those with Parkinson's, their care partners and families. Thank you to everyone who participated in Colorado Gives Day - because of the support we receive from people like you, in this past year we have expanded our programs and services by 20% to reach underserved communities throughout Colorado!
In mid-November 2014 the first Power Punch Parkinson's class started at the Red Shield Building on 29th and High Street in Denver. Rick Schwartz, the Parkinson Association of the Rockies former Board President, was the driving force in the creation of this first class. Little did he know that this one weekly class would grow into 14 weekly non-contact boxing classes throughout the state of Colorado!

Classes are now offered in Denver, Greenwood Village, Arvada, Boulder, Ft. Collins, Steamboat Springs, Edwards and Colorado Springs. And, due to the high demand, we aim to add more classes in 2017. Our Parkinson's boxers continually remind us of the tremendous impacts these classes are having on their lives and their ability to thrive with their Parkinson's. Our goal is that more members of our community have the opportunity to experience these same impacts. Thank you Rick; and thank you to all the boxers who continue to participate in this program. You are all an inspiration!.

Support Group Leaders  -  Thank You!
Each month a group of dedicated volunteers, Parkinson Association Support Group leaders, quietly convene more than 35 support groups throughout Colorado. We sincerely thank all of these leaders for sharing their passion and determination to help more than 1,000 individuals and their families overcome many of the challenges of living with this disease. You have literally changed the lives of thousands of people living with Parkinson's.

The Association would like to take a moment to recognize Kate Kelsall, Valerie Graham and Donna Miller who have been distinguished members of this incredible group of volunteers. Val and Kate founded the DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) support group many years ago. In fact, they established the first DBS support group in the nation! Donna, stepped-in to help lead this group and carry-on the tradition of Colorado having one of the best DBS-specific support groups in the nation. As Kate, Donna and Val step-down from leading this group, we want to extend our deep appreciation for your incredible leadership in supporting those contemplating DBS surgery, as well as helping those who have had DBS to share their experience with others. Hundreds of individuals credit your work and the DBS support group for helping them make the difficult DBS decision.

With sincere gratitude - Cheryl Siefert, Executive Director
