St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and School - Part-time Youth Ministry Worker

 

Goals: 

Deepen students’ relationships with Jesus, the church, and the community through various events that focus on developing faith, social awareness, and service to others.

Strengthen our church/school relationship, to make a greater faith connection for students at St. Mark’s, to build a relevant High School Ministry and which may lead to greater participation at church from SMLS students and families.

Job Description and Duties:

·         Candidate is expected to be present on Wednesdays in order to help with chapel, special events, and the after school program.

·         Candidate is expected to be present in worship and education hour on Sundays and help coordinate involvement in worship, bible study and service projects.

·         Candidate would create a Youth Ministry database, drawing from the SMLS database, previous Confirmation classes, and other potential students in the church. This would include all students from birth through college.

·         Our church would be involved with the Area-Wide Event Ministry, which would allow a broader base of youth; youth would work toward doing a summer trip (houseboat, mission trip, ELCA Youth Gathering, Western States Youth Gathering.

·         Candidate would be expected to help implement fundraisers to help with retreats and summer trips

·         Candidate would help create and oversee a Youth Board, where students serve as officers, for the purpose of planning and running events.

·         Candidate would coordinate adult members/parents to engage, mentor and help coordinate program activities and events.

 

Qualifications:

·         A college degree is preferred but not mandatory.

·         Basic understanding of Lutheran theology.

·         Passion for developing relationships centered around faith in God with all ages, especially youth.

·         Demonstrate patience.

·         Effective communication skills and social media savvy.

·         Demonstrate strong leadership, organization, and planning skills

·         Must have a safe driving record, valid CDL,  pass a finger print screening, and  TB testing.

 

This position would be paid hourly based on experience with minimum of 10 hours – maximum of  20 hours a week based on programming and planned activities.
