Podcast: History and Context of the Partition
In the first episode of SAI's podcast on the Partition of British India, Sunil Amrith, Mehra Family Professor of South Asian Studies, gave a broad overview of South Asian political history, including a history of British colonial rule in South Asia, the place of South Asia within the empire, and governance policies and systemic factors that contributed to the Partition.
Creating emerging markets: Lessons from history
What is the value of history in business?   What are the continuing obstacles to innovation in South Asia? What is the responsibility of business leaders to advocate for social justice and civil rights? These were some of the questions addressed at a conference in Mumbai on Feb. 13-14 hosted by the  Creating Emerging Markets project (CEM) project  in collaboration with the HBS India Research Center.

Achievement gaps in state-regulated Madrasas in Bangladesh
"Many of these schools face the same challenges as most under-resourced schools: some teacher absenteeism, low teacher morale, student absenteeism, etc. However, there are also some unique challenges," writes  Zayan Faiyad, Harvard College '18, who spent part of winter session conducting field research in Bangladesh.
