Milestone: 5 Million Catalog Records
We currently have 737 sites sharing over 5 million catalog records! The items that you share with PastPerfect Online made this monumental milestone possible - thank you!
Extra Extra, Read all about it!
Another great story of a relatively small organization expanding its reach by sharing their collection online on a tight budget! Congratulations to Kathy DiPhilippo and the team at South Portland Historical Society. Wicked good stuff!

Customize your Site for the New Year!
Your museum may be closed for the holidays, but your PastPerfect Online site is always open! Sharing your holiday hours on your PastPerfect Online Landing Page will help your visitors know how and when to reach you even during the busy holiday season. You can update your site after the holidays are over to remove this information.

Steps to update your Landing Page are below. You can read more about updating your Landing Page in our Online User Guide.
  1. Log into your IMS site and go to the Landing Page tab.
  2. Enter in the information about your holiday hours - you will need to use proper HTML to enter this information. If you have questions, please email the PPO team at pposupport@museumsoftware.com and we'll be happy to help.
  3. Once you have made your changes, click the Update Museum button at the top or bottom of your page to save the changes.
  4. View your site using the Open Web Site link near the top of the IMS page.
While you're in IMS making changes to your Landing Page, don't forget to check your site's footer - many organizations have a copyright date in their footer. Make sure to change it from 2016 to 2017 to reflect the new year! Steps to update your footer are below. You can read more about updating your footer in our Online User Guide.

  1. Log into your IMS site and go to the Header/Footer tab.
  2. Locate the copyright date in your footer.
  3. Change the date from 2016 to 2017.
  4. Once you have made your changes, click the Update Museum button at the top or bottom of your page to save the changes.
  5. View your site using the Open Web Site link near the top of the IMS page.
Using Catalog Lists to Manage Records for PastPerfect Online
Catalog Lists, available in PastPerfect Version 5.0, are great for keeping track of your records - but have you considered using them to manage your online collection? Below are three examples of how you can use Catalog Lists to help organize your records for sharing online.
  1. Select records to go online. Run a query to find a group of items that you want to include online. Once the items are on your list, you can save time by using the "Include on Web" button from the Catalog List screen. This will mark all records for web publishing at once so you do not need to select them individually.

  2. Review records to go online. Before creating your files, you can generate a list of which records are currently marked to be included online. You can easily review the records selected to be shared before you start the Create and Upload processes.

  3. Remove records to go online. Create a list of sensitive or restricted records which should never be published to your site. If any of these restricted items have been accidentally marked to go online, you can use the "Remove from Web" button from the Catalog List screen. This will ensure these restricted items have been excluded when you create your files.
If you aren't already familiar with Catalog Lists, see Chapter 15 of the Version 5.0 User Guide for more information about this useful tool.
