The Daring Raid
Colossians 1:13,14

For Christ has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
MESSAGE
Jesus Christ came to earth on a daring rescue mission. He made a raid into enemy territory and gave his life for us. His sacrificial death and resurrection are our means of escaping the kingdom of darkness and enjoying the kingdom of light!
Sometimes the message of Christianity needs to be put into clear and compelling terms that get to the bottom line. Without Jesus we are held captive in the kingdom of darkness. We can't get out and we need to be rescued. The Father sent God the Son to rescue us and offer us a way out! We now get to live in freedom in the kingdom of the Son.
Perhaps The Message Bible handles this verse in a way that strikes our hearts...
God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He's set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much, the Son who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating.
Father, thank you for sending your Son on a daring raid to rescue us! In Jesus' name, Amen.
