This Sunday is Confirmation Sunday, and I want to encourage each of you to be present to support our 6
grade students as they make the commitment to be followers of Christ. You all as a congregation have supported and nurtured them through your personal investment in them and their families and in the ministries of Trinity. That investment has led to this point, and I hope you will make every effort to be there to celebrate this major milestone with them.
Sunday, we will celebrate five baptisms and then all 22 students will confirm their faith. God's prevenient grace (God's grace that is with them even before they acknowledge it) has been with them and pursuing them for many years, and Sunday these students will accept that grace and promise to serve Christ as their Lord.
Over the years many of you have been their Sunday school teachers and camp counselors. You have cheered them on as they have made crafts in Vacation Bible School or performed with Rejoice Children's Choir. You have coached them in Upward Sports and appreciated them as they have led worship. This Sunday come celebrate with them and show your support as they are welcomed into the body of Christ.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank you, Trinity, for your commitment to ministries with children and youth. I am grateful for our tremendous Children's Ministry, the staff team, and the many lay volunteer servants ably led by Elizabeth Jones, our Director of Children's Ministries.
I'm also looking forward to welcoming our new Director of Youth Ministries, Rebekah Saveland, at the beginning of May. I can't wait for her to meet these Confirmands and all of our other students and begin to develop relationships with them and help them to grow in their faith. The week of May 21
we will also welcome Keven (yes, Keven with 2 "e's") Braswell as our new Director of Sonlight Ministries. With these two gifted and faithful folks leading our Youth Ministry, I trust many more lives will be impacted and Trinity will continue to "make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world."
Our students will be confirmed this Sunday at the 9:40 service, followed by a reception for them and their families in the Trinity atrium. I hope to see you at 9:40, but if you're not present in that service, please stop by the atrium after the 9:40 service to give your blessing to the Confirmands.
