"And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God's children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high God's love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves...." Ephesians 3:17-19a (The Living Bible)
Within our churchwide focus of
Deeper for the year 2018, Church Council identified four particular areas of emphasis. One of those areas is:
"To strengthen ministries for students 6th-12th grade which invite and encourage them to grow deeper in their faith in Christ..."
In seeking to fulfill this goal, it is important that we have the right people in leadership as the Director of Youth Ministries and the Director of Sonlight. Over the past several weeks, a nationwide search process has been underway to fill both these positions. I am delighted to report that we have received resumes from some excellent candidates.
In fact, the Director of Youth Ministries search has advanced to the point of inviting a candidate, about whom the search team is very excited, to come and spend a weekend with Trinity on February 17-18. Regarding the Director of Sonlight position, the search team will be conducting FaceTime interviews with five finalists during the week of February 11.
My invitation to each of you today is to be in prayer at this important time as we prepare for two important hires. Pray for the search teams in their work, pray for the persons who have offered themselves as candidates, and pray for the future of Trinity's ministry with youth, that it will bear much fruit by forming deeply devoted followers of Christ whose faith commitment will extend far beyond their adolescent years.
Grace and peace,
On another note, there is a wonderful opportunity for you to serve alongside others in our community as a part of the Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build. On Sunday, February 11, teams from various communities of faith around Gainesville will join together to work on homes currently under construction. Lunch will be served at noon and the work begins at 1pm. To participate, contact Trinity's Habitat liaison Jan LeDuc (352-378-6575) by Tuesday, February 6.
