"And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God's children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high God's love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves...."
Ephesians 3:17-19a (The Living Bible)
DEEPER. That's what you're invited to do in 2018...grow deeper. Our focus as a congregation this year, and hopefully for you as an individual, is to grow deeper - deeper in your relationships with others, deeper in your understanding of God's marvelous love, deeper in your experience of Christ.
Late last year the Church Council of Trinity wholeheartedly supported this focus for us as a congregation. (Click here to see our focus and goals.)
First of all, we hope you'll grow deeper by participating in one of the many small groups and class opportunities beginning next week. This is a great way to develop and strengthen relationships as well as grow in your faith. Want to learn more about the Bible and gain a deeper understanding of Christ? Then sign up for DISCIPLE 1 Bible Study facilitated by Rich Neiberger. Want to strengthen your relationships with others? Consider being a part of a discussion facilitated by Pastor Cliff Patrick based on a collection of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s sermons and his understanding of the "beloved community." Want to deepen your relationship with your spouse? Then take advantage of the Marriage Course, a weekly date night with dinner for two and free child care provided.
Steve and I will also be leading A Disciple's Path, a great class for newcomers as well as those who have been around a long time. We'll look at what it means to be committed Christians in the Wesleyan way. There are several other great options as well, just click here to check them out and register.
Finally, I hope you'll make every effort to be in worship this Sunday as we kick off this new year. We'll begin with a very special opportunity for remembering who we are as baptized Christians or to be baptized if you never have and are ready to make that commitment. What better way to begin going deeper.
Happy New Year! See you Sunday!
