As I sat down to write this week's Pastor's Message, that is the word that immediately came to mind.
I am grateful to share life together with a church like Trinity and to serve alongside you as one of your pastors. Of course, this is something I think and feel on a regular basis, but this week in particular many wonderful things have happened that reflect the depth and breadth of all our ministries. Here's just some of what has happened since Sunday:
Senior recognition, in worship and at UMYF
A progressive breakfast to help rising middle schoolers transition from children's ministry to youth ministry
Parent meetings and a LOT of planning for summer mission trips
Upward Sports' end of season celebration
Church council meeting where the passion and commitment of our lay leadership was on full display
Staff and worship design meetings during which we began planning for the next several months
Graduation of the class of 2017 from Stepping Stones Preschool
Like I said, that is just some of what has happened...I know much has been left out. Still, I hope you noticed that this list captures two very important things. First, God's people of all ages and stages are actively participating in the life of the church. And, equally important, the life of our church includes all five spiritual practices of fruitful congregations - radical hospitality, passionate worship, intentional discipleship, extravagant generosity, and risk-taking mission and service. Glory to God!
On Sunday, I'll be excited to continue our message series, Seven Next Words of Christ, with "Have you caught any fish?" from John 21:1-14. Just a reminder that this Sunday is Family Worship, children in Kindergarten - 5th grade will join their families in worship at 9:40 & 11. There will be childcare for 0 - preK. See you in worship!
