Pastors File Lawsuit Challenging Illinois’ Ban on Sexual Identity Counseling
On Thursday, Pastors Protecting Youth, an association of Illinois pastors, filed a federal lawsuit against the State of Illinois in regards to the Youth Mental Health Protection Act, the state’s newly enacted ban on sexual identity counseling for minors. The suit maintains that the ban unconstitutionally restricts a young person’s right to make personal choices regarding his or her own choice of sexual identity, as well as the pastors’ right to free speech and the exercise of religion.

Pregnancy Centers File Suit in Response to Illinois Forcing Doctors, Medical Facilities to Promote Abortion
Mauck & Baker and Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys representing an Illinois doctor and two pregnancy care centers filed suit in state court against Gov. Bruce Rauner after he recently signed a bill into law that forces doctors and medical facilities to promote abortion regardless of their ethical or moral views on the practice.

My Experience as Blackstone Fellow
Every year, Mauck & Baker has a talented Blackstone Legal Fellow join the firm for six weeks. The Blackstone Legal Fellowship is branch of the Alliance Defending Freedom and prepares Christian law students for careers marked by integrity, excellence, and leadership. This summer, we had a first year law student, Matthew Jacobs, join the firm. Matthew lives on the south side of Chicago and attends Vanderbilt Law of School.
