 Cookie Rally Volunteers Needed

Calling all adult and Girl Scout volunteers! We need your help with our first COOKIE RALLY! This event will help Girl Scouts learn all about selling cookies. You can help teach the girls to know their product by making cookie bracelets. Play the role of a customer as girls practice their sales pitch. Teach them how to collect money and make change. Help make recycled clipboards for use with the cookie order form. Lots to do! Come spend the day with us! December 8, 2012 from 9:00 - 4:00 at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds. Bring a bag lunch, No food service is available at this event.

We have a great list of volunteer opportunities within Girl Scouts of Gateway Council. Check them out today!

San Agustin

Applications for docents are due 11/8.

A perennial favorite program activity - San Agustin docents travel back in time to experience St Augustine life in the 1700s. They sew and wear period clothing, use wooden spoons and bowls to eat authentic open-fire meals, and sleep in marquee shelters while sharing the experience with new friends.   Learn More

Become a Program Aide Facilitator

We are looking to add more Program Aide Facilitators to our team!  Are you an adult volunteer who enjoys working with middle school age girls? Are you interested in joining the team?  If so, contact: Training@girlscouts-gateway.org.

Gateway Goes Global

Older Girl Conference

January 11 - 12, 2013

Trinity United Methodist Church, Gainesville

An inspiring and eye-opening event planned by older girls for older girls in grades 8 - 12.  Together we will learn about ensuring environmental stability, empowering women, and ending extreme hunger and poverty - both in northern Florida and around the world.  We will work together to generate solutions to these problems that Girl Scouts can implement, maybe even as a Silver or Gold Award!

Check out the event blog for details, and  for more information contact Tovah H Mays: Thmays@girlscouts-gateway.org

Emergency Contact Person

    Essential To Troop Safety

As we begin this new membership year and start to take trips and attend events, let's remember a few steps to help prepare.  First make sure you have a person who is willing to be the Emergency Contact Person for each event or trip that your troop takes.  This person should be available the entire time your troop is together for the event.

You will need to provide them with a detailed list of every person in attendance and their personal contact information. Make sure your parent permission slip requires this information.  As the Troop Leader you should also retain a copy of this list with your Health Forms for each girl and the Parent Permission Slip and carry them with you while you are away.  In the event of an emergency the Emergency Contact Person for your troop will relay messages to troop parents - during a time that your focus needs to be with the girls.  Having this help will ensure you are better able to handle emergency situations as they arise.
