We have all the resources you need to help kids of all ages have a successful school year.  Just click on the Home Access icon on our webpage for great databases that provide help with everything from homework and test prep to writing amazing essays.
       

Friends of Patterson Library Annual Book Sale

 

Donations of Books, DVDs & CDs will be 

accepted starting August 23rd

  
The Book Sale will be held under the tent at the library September 20-28, from 10-6 PM weekdays and 10-4 PM on weekends. A Preview Sale will be held 9/19 from 3-6 PM with a $50 admission fee. Cash, credit and debit cards will be accepted. For information or to volunteer call the library at 845-878-6121 x10. 

Annual School Supply Drive

 

August 18 through September 8

 

Please donate new school supplies and help us give our local kids in need a great start to the school year. Notebooks, binders, crayons, backpacks, pens, pencils, markers, lunch boxes, rulers and other supplies are greatly appreciated. Supplies will be collected in the vestibule during business hours.                       

Rock 'n Roll Exhibit

Fall Vegetable Gardening

It's time to plant your fall garden! Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County will teach you the basics of selecting and planting fall crops that you can grow through December and show you how to make a simple cold frame structure to extend your growing season.

Microsoft Excel Part II

Wednesday  September 10    7:00 PM   

 

Learn how to use functions, templates, sort data, filter cells, and format tables in this advanced Excel class taught by Margaret Carey. A basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Excel is required. 

Patterson History Project

Wednesday  September 17    1:00 PM

 

Join us for this great ongoing local history project! Come share your knowledge & memories to help the Patterson Historical Society identify maps, photos and documents. Bring your own items and have them recorded in this wonderful project. Plus learn great tips to help you research local history using online land records. Feel free to bring your laptop to follow along!

Understanding Medicare Coverage

Bernadette Pacific of "Medi-Claims Specialist" discusses important details you need to know about Medicare. Learn about the changes in the Medicare system, Part A & B coverage, costs and how Medicare works with supplemental insurance. There will be a Q&A period at the end of the workshop. Registration required, space is limited.
 

Emergency Preparedness Workshop

Saturday  September 27    1:00 PM


Don't miss this informative workshop to help you keep your family safe during severe storms and natural disasters.  Jeffrey Grossmann, History Channel Expert Commentator, St. John's University Professor, and Executive National Director of the Homeland Security, will show you how to prepare for these situations with a discussion on topics including family emergency planning, disaster kit building, sheltering and evacuation essentials, senior considerations, and pet concerns.

Kids in 1st and 2nd grade will read a great book at home and participate in a fun group discussion at our meeting. 

Mondays   Starting September 15   5:30 PM 

 

For grades 5 and up. Reading is so much fun when you are reading popular titles and discussing them with a great group of teens!  This book club allows readers to get together once a month to talk about the books in a fun and exciting way.

Girls Just Want to Read

Mondays   Starting September 22   4:30 - 5:30 PM

 

Girls in 3rd and 4th grade will have a great time in this book club hanging with their friends, reading popular titles, participating in lively discussions and doing fun activities relating to the books. Girls only!

Reading doesn't have to be a chore.  Boys in 3rd and 4th grade can have a great time reading popular favorites while being with friends and doing fun activities associated with the books. Boys only!

An exciting new program for kids in Kindergarten. Stories will come to life as kids listen to wonderful tales and do fun crafts and activities related to the books.

Friday   September 26   6:30 PM 

 

For ages 3 - 8. Come listen to author Stephanie Marrero-Bond read her wonderful book Penelope Loves Purple. and do a fun craft while enjoying milk and cookies. Please notify us if your child has any allergies.

Did you grow up in Patterson? Share your knowledge and memories of our community to help the Patterson Historical Society identify dozens of old maps, photos and documents. You can also bring your own items and have them recorded in this exciting historical project.
