COLLEGE DECISION DAY CEREMONY-JOIN US
Join us Tuesday, May 2nd for our first annual College Decision Day Ceremony. This special ceremony celebrates each of our 42 seniors (and their parents) as well as their success at St. Luke's and their future!  

SPRING FESTIVAL IS COMING
We are looking forward to this year's Spring Festival!  Don't forget the sunscreen! It's going to be a GREAT day to be a Wildcat (red or black)!
BIOMED CAPSTONE PRESENTATIONS
Our Senior BioMed program students have spent 3 years working toward this evening and you are invited to come show your support.  After 3 years of curriculum and clinical study, the students will each present an in-depth look into a medical or medical related field of their choosing.  Upper School students in attendance will receive 2 CEU credits.  The presenters and their topics are: Katie Armstrong - Osteoarthritis and Arthroplasty, Caroline Chestang - Manifestation of Dermatologic Cancers, Mary Hunter Davis -Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, Allie Dixon -Acute Myocardial Infarction, Courtney Farni-Integrative Management of Diabetes Mellitus, Elizabeth Guice-Indications for Orthodontic Appliances, Allison Lowe-Virtual Healthcare, Zach McCleery- Emerging Technologies in Emergency Medical Service, Ellie Milwee-Flexible Rod Fixation,  Jordan Odom-Aesthetic Medicine, Caitlin Smith- Robot Assisted General Surgery and Kate Symons-X-ray Crystallography.
 
IT'S NAPPIE TIME
No...not nap time (although that sounds inviting),  N-A-P-P-I-E time. Each year Lagniappe magazine provides an opportunity for readers to vote for their favorite _________ .  You can fill in the blank with just about anything and they'll have a category for it!  

We would appreciate your vote in any (or all) of the following categories: Best Private School, Best Preschool, and Best Summer Camp.

We also happen to know that we have some pretty cool teachers...you can vote for them too!   You can vote once an hour until May 10th.  We appreciate your support!


 

SPRING BAND AND CHORAL CONCERT

The St. Luke's Band and Chorus will present their annual Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 2nd in St. Luke's Church at 6:00 pm.  You are invited to enjoy their hard work!  The Jazz Band provided our Middle and Upper School students, faculty and staff with a sneak peak this week...and they sound great. 

 

 

COLOR GUARD?
Any students in rising grades 8-12 interested in starting a Color Guard are asked to meet with Mrs. Deal in the Band Room after school on Friday, May 5th.

MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENT SOCIAL TONIGHT
Current Middle School parents and current 5th grade parents are invited to attend the Spring Middle School Parent Social on Friday, April 28th at 6:00 pm.  Join other parents on the patio at Heroes on Hillcrest Road. Dutch treat and casual attire.  Come enjoy the company!


SLES FINISHES 2nd in COASTAL KIDS QUIZ
Congratulations to 5th graders Daniel Grafton, Larson Holt, Olivia Howard, Drew Rushing and Cammie Waites who finished in 2nd place at the Alabama Coastal Kids Quiz Science Competition sponsored by ACF and The Project CATE Foundation. They won $400 each and won $500 for Mrs. Thompson's Box of Awesome! 
 
Thank you also to the their coaches, Kelly Rushing and Lisa Howard who obviously did an awesome job of preparing them and received The Community Partner Award for their time and dedication to our team.


 

ZOGHBY'S UNIFORM SALE - DISCOUNT WEEK

It's always easy to tell the end of the year from the beginning of the year..skirt and pants lengths are shorter, blazer sleeves and ties are too short, shoes are worn (especially the girls) and white polo shirts have seen better days. Zoghby's is ready to help you prepare for next year! The week of May 15th-20th Zoghby's will be on our campuses to help you with fittings and orderings and they will be offering a 10% discount on purchases made on campus and in the store. 

CAMP WILDCAT REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN
Registration is open for Camp Wildcat, a fun-filled day camp for children in rising grades PK3 - 6th. The  Junior Camp serves children ages 3 through 5 (rising K3, K4 and K5), and the Senior Camp serves rising 1st through 6th graders. Weekly themes provide exciting activities and enrichment classes include library, computer, science, Spanish, and art.   J unior campers enjoy on-site activities,  senior campers attend field trips and swim once a week. "Water Slide Wednesdays" are always a hit and everyone gets to participate! Camp Wildcat is open to anyone... spread the word to family, friends and co-workers!  REGISTRATION FORM AND DETAILED INFO may also be downloaded from the front page of the school's website.
 
 

















Our 4th graders had a great time learning about electricity and safety from the men at Alabama Power!  

ATHLETICS
GIRLS TENNIS MAKES HISTORY
Congratulations to our Girls Tennis Team for an awesome showing in the AHSAA 1A-3A State Tennis Tournament.  The team finished 3rd overall and the highest of any 2A school. Whitney Novak won the State Championship in her singles flight.  Whitney and Anna Marie Bentley won a State Championship for their doubles flight.  Amelia Speir was the State Runner-up in her flight.  Congratulations to all of our players for such a fantastic season.   We aren't losing any players so next year should be something to look forward to as well! 
BASEBALL PLAYOFFS
Don't forget to come out and cheer on our WIldcats today as they host Cottondale for the second round of the playoffs.  Games are today at 2:00 and 4:00 ($8 per person) and a third game will be played on Friday if needed ($6 per person).  There are no passes allowed per AHSAA regulations.

VOTE FOR JEREMIAH!   Jeremiah Jackson has been nominated for AL.com's Coastal Alabama Performance of the Week based on his outstanding play in last weekend's series. Vote for him to win  here.
GIRLS GOLF 
Our Girls Golf Team just wrapped up the best regular season play in our varsity history (13-8) and will be advancing to post season play.  The Sectional Tournament will be held on Monday at RTJ/Highland Oaks Golf Course in Dothan.  Best of luck to our Wildcat Golfers Emmy Musial, Caitlin Smith, and Bailey Fisher.

Emmy Musial competed in the UMS Invitational April 24th and 25th and finished tied at 20th out of 58 players.   

BOYS GOLF 
The Boys Golf Team finished 3rd overall in the Dothan Eagle Raider Tournament on April 13th. They will be playing in the Sectionals Tournament at Heron Lakes Country Club on May 1st.


TRACK AND FIELD
The Track and Field Team will be competing in the Sectional Track Meet in Montgomery this weekend.  The Girls Team heads into the meet as the #1 seed. Good luck Wildcats!
ANOTHER WILDCAT HEADED TO NORTH SOUTH ALL-STAR GAME
Congratulations to Mark Wilcox who is one of 15 rising senior basketball players selected to play in the North-South basketball game this summer. The competition is a part of the AHSAA All-Star Sports Week.
YOUTH SUMMER SPORTS CAMPS

St. Luke's is proud to boast some of the best varsity coaches in the area: coaches who know their stuff and enjoy working with kids of all ages, coaches who understand the  important role that athletics play in a child's life,.coaches who LOVE what they do!
  
Our youth summer sports camps for children in rising grades 3-6 provide the opportunity for children  to develop the fundamental skills of a sport under the direction of our St. Luke's varsity coaches.  Our coaches emphasize  good sportsmanship and cooperative learning and are assisted by student athletes.  Camps, excluding Tennis Camp, are held on the Middle and Upper School Campus  at 1400 S. University Blvd. Camp times are 9:00 am until 12:00 pm unless otherwise noted. The cost of each camp is $75 per athlete. Registration is available online at www.YDLsports.net.
