UNIVERSITY CAMPUS NEW PROGRAM "LIBRARY AFTER HOURS"
We are excited to announce that this year, we are providing a free service to our University Campus students and parents: "Library After Hours". Each day, the Library will be open until 5:30 pm for students. Students who are on campus after 3:45 pm and are not in a supervised activity or athletics, must report to the Library, sign in and remain in the Library until they are picked up.

Students may use this time to complete work or utilize the online services, but are not allowed to roam the campus. A parent must sign them out with the Library Monitor, Theresa Young (251-545-5391).

The Library will be closed and locked at 5:30 pm each day.  Any student not picked up prior to 5:30 will be on the porch outside of the Library facing the North Gate parking lot.  Parents, please be on-time, as the school will not be responsible for students after that time.

FIRST DAY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS TRADITIONS
6th/12th Grade Promenade
Sixth graders and their 12th grade big brothers and sisters kick the year off with our annual 6th/12th Grade Promenade.  Our 7th-11th graders, faculty, staff and parents line the walkways from the top of the campus to the auditorium and welcome our 6th grade students to the University Campus as they promenade to the auditorium for our first chapel/assembly of the year.
9th Grade Opening the Gates The center gates of the University Campus are opened only twice each year.  On the first day of school, the freshmen class processes to the OUTSIDE of the gate following chapel/assembly service. The freshman students unlock the gate and pass through coming INTO the school.  The other Middle and Upper School students, faculty, staff and parents form a line in the breezeway through which the freshmen walk into campus.  The gates are locked after the last freshman has passed through.  This tradition represents the passage from Middle School into the St. Luke's Upper School. These students will not pass through this gate again until the day they graduate from St. Luke's.  After the Commencement Ceremony, the Senior Class processes to the INSIDE of the gate where they each "sign out" for the final time.  Faculty and staff line the breezeway through which the seniors walk OUT, parents and guests watch from the lawn in front of campus. Once every Senior signs out, the class president will unlocks and opens the gate, and pass through to the outside, with the other seniors following.  After the Seniors have passed through, the gates are locked again.  Seniors stand on the front steps (in front of the center gate)  to take their class graduation photos.

Since the opening of the St. Luke's University Campus the only people to have walked through this gate are the 9th grade students and seniors who have participated in these ceremonies.
