COLLEGE APPLICATION PARTY
Hey Seniors...don't forget this Sunday, September 25th is the  College Application Party!  It starts at   2:00 pm  in the Library.  Bring your own device plus a debit/credit card and complete college applications, scholarship applications, create an FSA ID for FAFSA, etc. This will be a casual time to get answers to your questions and enjoy yummy snacks!

UPPER SCHOOL CEU RESCHEDULED
The "Dance Without Limits" CEU scheduled for Monday night is being rescheduled due to a conflict with the group that was to present it.  We will post information regarding the new date/time as soon as it becomes available.   

JAPONICA CAMPUS OPEN HOUSE and DINNER UNDER THE OAKS

Join us Thursday evening, September 29th as our classrooms are open and your child can give you a firsthand look at how they spend their days! The food trucks will be in the courtyard so that your family can join others in a great meal and a fun time! This is a great opportunity to show off...you are encouraged to invite prospective families to join us for the evening.  Please contact Hilary DeArmon in the Admissions Office for more details. University families and faculty and staff are welcome!

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
K3-5th Grade Parents SAVE THE DATE. Blessing of the Animals is an annual celebration at our school and church and is one of the greatest days of the year!   The school's celebration will be held on Friday, October 7th for K3-5th grade.  Students are encouraged to bring their pets (real pets only please) to school for the morning ceremony.    If you have never attended a Blessing of the Animals you DO NOT want to miss it!     The church/community event will be held Saturday, October 8th at 10:00 am.  Download the details .

LAST DAY TO ORDER SHIRTS
Homecoming week is October 17-22.  Don't forget to order your
 2016 Homecoming shirts!  Order forms may be completed electronically here (p ayments may be made via the Smart Tuition option on the electronic form or you may send your check or cash to the school) or download a printable form.  Details are included on the electronic form.  All orders and payments must be made by Friday, September 23rd.    
HOMECOMING DANCE
The Homecoming Dance (Upper School students) will be held on Saturday, October 22nd at Heron Lakes Country Club from 8:00 pm until 10:30 pm.  Students who intend to bring a guest from another school must submit a completed Guest Consent Form by October 19th.  
Tickets are $25 per person.  M & A will be taking the photos (the price is included in the cost of the ticket). Download more information regarding attire, an RSVP ticket form and the Guest Consent Form here.  

HOMECOMING TAILGATES
We want this year's Homecoming Tailgate Party to be the biggest we've ever had!  The game is on Friday, October 21st so start making your plans now!  Gather your friends and family and your kid's friends and families and tailgate at the game.  We have plenty of room for tents and even RV's!  Come out and party with us!  We'll have prizes for the best theme and decorations and more!

Congratulations to senior Andrew Ravine who has been recognized as a National Merit Semifinalist.  Semifinalists are among the TOP 1% of the more than 1.6 million students who took the qualifying PSAT.   

 

NATIONAL MERIT COMMENDED SCHOLAR-Congratulations to Emmy Musial who has been named a National Merit Commended Scholar.  The Commended Students placed among the TOP 5% of the more than 1.6 million students who took the qualifying PSAT!

BAND NEWS
 
ANNUAL "JOIN THE BAND FOR A DAY " DAY
Dust off that old clarinet and polish up that old trumpet in the attic!  On October 7th musicians from our St. Luke's family are invited to join the Wildcat Band in the stands at the football game.  The band will gather at 6:30 p.m. for a warm up near the field house prior to the 7 o'clock kick-off.  Bring your instrument and school spirit and we will have a great time supporting our team!  Please email Mrs. Deal (ldeal@stlukesmobile.com) for music and any questions you may have.  S ee you at the field! "EXPERIENCE" ST. LUKE'S

Have you figured out which of our awesome teachers helped build and transport a coffin across state lines on the top  of a minivan?  Here's a hint that is sure to help you figure it out.  In a touching tribute to her great aunt, she had the same blue satin that was used as the lining in the casket used as the lining in the bag she stored and carried her MUSICAL instrument in!
That's right, it's our AWESOME music teacher and band instructor LAURA DEAL!  She has some amazing life experiences and is loved by all of her students...Just ask them!    
CHEER CLINIC
The varsity cheerleaders are sponsoring a cheer clinic for girls in grades K3-5th grade.  The clinic will be held after school on October 4th, 5th and 6th. Participants are invited to cheer with the varsity squad at the varsity football game on F riday, October 7th.  The fee includes a daily snack as well as a "CHEER" t-shirt.  Registration forms and fees must be turned in by September 16th. ROBOTICS:  ENTREPRENEURS and FUNDRAISERS

The Robotics students are starting a vinyl printing business and want to earn your support.  Monograms, SL logo, wildcat  and personalized "Class of" stickers can be ordered in red, white or hot pink. STAR SPANGLED CELEBRATION
On Wednesday, September 14th, St. Luke's hosted The Star Spangled Banner Day.  The event was attended by our fifth and sixth grade classes as well as fifth grades from around the city. Our center Stage and Chorus students did an excellent job with the program which told the story behind the writing of the National Anthem.  The Center Stage students also presented the story to the Lower School Campus later in the week.
 
ATHLETICS
YDL CROSS COUNTRY IS ON FIRE!
Congratulations to our 3rd-6th grade Cross Country Team.  They are amazing and are setting their courses on fire! They competed in the 2016 Farewell to Summer Meet this week and had some fantastic results.  Awards were presented to the top 8 finishers in boys and girls divisions.
  
Of the 82 boys competing in the meet SLES runners finished in 1st place (Stone Smith, 3rd place (Garrett Dolbear) and 5th place (Brooks Cumpton)

Of the 68 girls competing in the meet SLES runners finished in 1st place (Emily Miles), 3rd place Audrey Kate Smith, 5th place Abigail Sadler, 7th place Tristan Johnson,
and 8th place Caitlyn Burkhalter.

14 of the 23 SLES runners set a personal record in the meet.
REGISTER NOW FOR YDL BASKETBALL
Grades 3-6
Registration is now open for Boys and Girls YDL basketball (3rd-6th grades). The deadline to register is October 12th.  LATE REGISTRATIONS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED   
There will be both boys and girls divisions.  Teams will be based upon the number of registrants but will be either combined 3rd and 4th grade and 5th and 6th grade teams or, with enough players, may be grade level teams.  Practices may begin as soon as  October 12th depending on the time frame of the team being organized and the coach's availability.

We NEED COACHES--without volunteers to coach we wont be able to form teams or begin practices.  The varsity coaches are willing to provide guidance with practices routines, drills, or anything else that will help you as a coach.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS
Tryouts for Middle School Boys Basketball (7th & 8th grade) will be held on Friday, September 30th from 3:30pm -5:00pm and Saturday,  October 1st from 11:00am-1:00pm.  The location will be announced as soon as it is confirmed.

MS, JV and VARSITY GIRLS & BOYS BASKETBALL PARENTS  
The parents of students (boys and girls) playing Middle School, JV and Varsity basketball  
should plan to attend a Parent Meeting on Tuesday, October 4th in the Dining Hall.  The parents of 9th-12th graders will meet at 6:00 pm.  Parents of 7th and 8th graders will meet at 6:45 pm.
 
VARSITY FOOTBALL
The Wildcats are on the road this week and next but will be playing at HOME again on Friday night October 7th.  PLEASE make plans to come out and support our players and coaches!   VARSITY SCHEDULE
VOLLEYBALL
Last night our Lady Wildcats played Cottage Hill on their campus..it was a very close, intense match ( 2 games all and SL won the 5th game by 4 points).  Cottage Hill had a great crowd at the games: students, parents, faculty.  They were large and they were loud!  WE NEED YOU TO COME OUT AND SUPPORT OUR TEAM!  We will play Cottage Hill in OUR gym on October 6th..Let's show them how it's done!      
There are only 3 more regular season HOME matches scheduled for our Lady Wildcats. Don't miss your opportunity to see these girls in action!!!  The Varsity team plays at home on 9/29 (Chickasaw), JV and Varsity play on 10/6 (Cottage Hill), and Varsity plays Fairhope  on 10/11.   JV and VARSITY SCHEDULE
CROSS COUNTRY
Cross Country team will compete again on Saturday, September 24th in the Daphne Invitational. The girls will run at 8:00 am and the boys at 8:45 am.  Come out and cheer on our dedicated runners! VARSITY SCHEDULE
