5th Sunday of Easter
Happy Mother's Day!

Sermon: Rev. Jim Berlau
Closer & Closer Worship Series: "Living Stones"

1 Peter 2:4-10

Among the recurring images in Scripture are stones. From the very beginning there are stone pillars to mark the acts of God. Peter says we are living stones building a spiritual house.  As stones working  together, how can we create a well of living water and not become a wall, keeping people out? For Jesus is our chief cornerstone and we are called to follow in his footsteps.
This Sunday, like many United Methodist churches, we expand the joy of traditional Mother's Day with a celebration of the blessings of family. Families come in all shapes and sizes, and God has blessed us with connections that enrich our lives. This includes our church family, those who are bound together in a common journey of discipleship. We're all children of God, loving, supporting, nurturing, growing closer and closer to God and each other.

Whether you arrived as a single individual or leading a van full of little ones, we want you to know that you are a valued part of our family. We'll share scripture, music, laughter, prayer, and the best family meal ever (the Lord's Supper!).
Second Saturday Church Workday - May 13
On the second Saturday of every month, the Peace United Methodist Church Board of Trustees sponsors a church workday. This is a great chance to serve with your family, friends or small group for a few hours. We have a diverse list of projects that will help all the ministries at Peace get ready for the summer season. There is work to be done inside and outside, so all ages and abilities will have something to do! We hope to see you on Saturday, May 13th from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. noon.  Don't forget to bring your gloves!   Questions? Contact the church office 407-438-8947 or email .

M.A.P. Meal Assistance Program
Many children go to bed hungry every night right here in Orange and Osceola counties.  The number of families in need of help with basic food supplies continues to grow.  Thanks to your generous donations Peace is able to provide a bag of food for these families in desperate need of assistance.  Each bag feeds a family of four for several meals.
To make monetary donations: make a check payable to Peace UMC and specify "Meal Assistance Program" or M.A.P.  All food items that Peace purchases are on sale or purchased at a discount rate negotiated with Publix and other stores. We black out the UPC code on the labels so food cannot be returned and exchanged alcohol or tobacco.
Peace Happenings:

Our Dress a Girl Around the World just sent the following items to Haiti: 227 of our dresses, 70 pair of boys shorts, 63 dolls, 112 cars, 40 bars of soap, 3 large bottles of baby shampoo, 10 washcloths, 26 toothbrushes, the underwear from Undie Sunday and two bins of clothes from the UMW garage sale!
