NAPNAP Joins the Partnership
July 11, 2014

We're very pleased to announce that the  National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) is our newest Partner, bringing the number of our Partners to 21 organizations.

With over 7,500 members, NAPNAP is the professional association for PNPs and other advanced practice nurses who care for children. Established in 1973, NAPNAP has been actively advocating for  children's health by: providing funding, education, and research opportunities to PNPs; and producing and distributing educational materials to parents and families. NAPNAP prides itself in the caliber of its members, which includes national child health care experts, respected authors, distinguished faculty, and practicing professionals.

"NAPNAP is representative of the breadth of the Partnership," said Dennis Barbour, Partnership executive director. "We are very proud of the multi-disciplinary and multi-specialty nature of our campaign to advance the health of young males."

Just recently the American Sexual Health Association, the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association, the Foundation for Mens Health and the International Society of Mens Health also joined the Partnership. "We are honored to have these organizations also join us," said Barbour. "Together we're building a powerful voice for our mission."

"NFPRHA is happy to join with many others in support of the Partnership for Male Youth and applauds its commitment to enhancing the capability of providers and parents/guardians to engage adolescent and young adult males in their health care, said Clare Coleman, NFPRHA President and CEO. "The Partnership's outreach efforts are critically important activities, and help further our shared interests in better public health and a more informed and engaged public."

The Partnership for Male Youth has emerged from the health related work of The Boys Initiative, a young nonprofit organization. In late 2012 the Initiative began researching the state of health care for adolescent and young adult (AYA) males, with an eye toward developing solutions to improve their health.  After an extensive literature search and discussions with over 100 individuals from a range of medical disciplines, and under the guidance of a multidisciplinary medical advisory board, the Initiative developed a groundbreaking resource for health care providers that the Partnership released in January 2014: the Health Provider Toolkit for Adolescent and Young Adult Males.
