"Ohio's Bike Lawyer"
Join us as Ohio’s “Bike Lawyer”, Steven Magas discuss legal issues of interest to cyclists. Steve also started handling cases for injured cyclists and the families of those killed while riding. He has handled more than 400 “bike cases” over the course of his career. In addition to representing cyclists, Steve has written about Bike Law on a local, regional and national basis and is regularly called upon by TV and radio journalists when Bike Law issues pop up in the news. Steve continues to lecture regularly on numerous Bike Law topics and has presented CLE programs for lawyers.

VSSRs are becoming increasingly common in Ohio workers' compensation claims. Mr. Hostin will describe thes claims, and will walk through the stages and procedures in a typical VSSR investigation. He will also discuss strategies that employers might use to avoid them.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Mr. Hostin has been a Special Investigator with the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation since 2006. His duties include investigating occupational fatalities and catastrophic injuries. He investigates fatal and non-fatal VSSR claims and conducts VSSR compliance inspections. Mr. Hostin also investigates non-participating / non-cooperating employers as well as public employer fatalities.

NEW LOCAL RULE 2.18, PROCEDURE AFTER REMAND
(EMERGENCY STATUS – EFFECTIVE MAY 9, 2018)
The General Division of the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court added Local Rule 2.18 effective MAY 9, 2018.
Pursuant to Mont. Co. C.P.R. 1.03 of the Local Rules of Practice and Procedure for the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas and Rule 5 of the Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio, the adopted amendments are being published for a sixty-day comment period beginning Wednesday, May 9, 2018, through Monday, July 9, 2018.
